On August 3, 2020, at 7 PM the Bethel Sportsman Club gathered at the VFW in Bethel, AK, for their 2020 Annual Meeting. Most members attended to renew their memberships and chose not to stay for the meeting. Considering the current health crisis, this was supported by the board.
People to be Heard
There were questions regarding the fencing of the range and if there will be more upcoming opportunities for members to join us and help work on the fencing. Work-days will be scheduled and email notifications will be sent out, along with announcements on our Facebook group. Members are also encouraged to visit our calendar of events to see any upcoming opportunities for working and helping on the range development.
Treasurer’s Report
Jerry White is the interim treasurer as our previous board member had to resign earlier in the year.
President’s Report
Our current President, Mike Glore, was out of town. Richard Robb, VP, gave this year’s President’s Report. Focusing on last year’s goals:
- Website: the club has purchased a subscription through WordPress in order to obtain internal maintenance of the club’s website rather than contracting. Along with a new website, an email list has been started for newsletters and notifications.
- Range Development: a portion of the back corner has been fenced off and fencing has been hung over the gate. Dirt work was completed last year.
- Public Outreach: A defined training and event calendar has been created and posted on our website. Contact information has been made more available to the public. Last year, we hosted the Bethel’s Top Shot and a Turkey Shoot with donations from Glore’s Hunting & Shooting Supplies and Alaska Commercial Co. We had a great turn out at both events, and hope to host more in the future. We also hosted a Concealed Carry class at the range with Scott Vukich of Pioneer Tactical.
