FOLLOW THE BASIC RULES OF FIREARMS SAFETY
- By entering the gate, you are agreeing to follow the rules set forth by the Bethel Sportsman Club.
- No shooting after the consumption of drugs or alcohol.
- All local, state, and federal laws must be obeyed.
- Anyone may call “CEASE FIRE” when an unsafe act or condition is witnessed.
- Cease Fire conditions exist whenever anyone is downrange of the firing line.
- Hold your fire when aircraft are passing by the range.
- All firearms will be rendered SAFE until they are ready to be fired. Firearms NOT in a holster or NOT in a case will be unloaded with the action open until they are ready to be fired.
GUN HANDLING RULES
- While on the range, all firearms will have their muzzles oriented downrange at all times.
- Keep your finger OFF of the trigger until your target is in your sights.
- All firearms will be empty of ammunition and have their actions open whenever anyone is down range of the firing line.
- Drawing from a holster and firing is not allowed except when participating in an approved class or competition, and then only under proper supervision.
During a “CEASE FIRE” please execute the following procedures:
- Stop shooting immediately
- Remove your finger from the trigger
- Keep your firearm oriented downrange
- Open the action of your firearm
- Place your firearm on the shooting bench
- Step behind the shooting bench
- Do Not touch any firearms for the duration of the cease fire
- Once all parties present agree that the range is safe, you may resume shooting
FIRING RULES
The following rules are in place to mitigate lead contamination on the shooting range:
- Use only BSC approved target stands.
- NO ground targets may be used.
- NO cross firing.
- All bullets, slugs, and shot must impact the approved impact zone.
- Please DO NOT bring TRASH to the range for targets.
- Please police your own brass and clean up after yourself when you are done shooting.
SHOTGUN RANGE RULES
- The shotgun range has not yet been constructed.
- Trap and Skeet shooting is prohibited until proper shooting stations are constructed.
- Shotguns may be used on the 25 and 100-yard lanes at approved, stationary targets, see Operational Rules.
OPERATIONAL RULES
Please Note: The 25, 100, and 200-Yard firing lanes share a common firing line. All three lanes must be rendered safe before shooting may commence.
25-Yard Lane Rules:
- All air pistols, air rifles, handguns, shotguns, muzzle-loaders, and rifles up to and including .460 Weatherby may be fired on this lane.
- Please be respectful of all range equipment. Shotguns are very destructive to target stands and sand bags.
100-Yard Lane Rules:
- Only handguns capable of carrying their projectile to the designated impact zone may be used on this lane.
- Shotguns, firing slugs only, may be used.
- Muzzle-loaders capable of carrying their projectile to the approved impact zone may be used on this lane.
- All rifles, up to and including .460 Weatherby, may be used on this lane.
200-Yard Lane Rules:
- Shotguns are PROHIBITED on this lane.
- Only handguns capable of carrying their projectile to the designated impact zone may be used on this lane.
- Muzzle-loaders capable of carrying their projectile to the approved impact zone may be used on this lane.
- All rifles, up to and including .460 Weatherby, may be used on this lane.
ADMINISTRATIVE RULES
- Summer Hours: April 1st through September 30th, 8:00 AM until 10:00 PM
- Winter Hours: October 1st through March 31st, Daylight Hours
- The range is closed to public use during Law enforcement training times. These times vary.
- Out of respect for the deceased and the bereaved, the range is closed during funerals at the Veteran’s cemetery.
- NO FULL AUTOMATIC FIRE and NO BUMPFIRE
NOTICE: The MEMBERSHIP YEAR starts and ends at the annual meeting, which is the third Monday of March, unless otherwise announced.
There is a $30.00 Lost Key Fee.
